Aer Lingus is the flag carrier airline of Ireland, and operates their loyalty program called AerClub which offers members numerous rewards and benefits. At the core of this loyalty program is the digital currency known as Avios, which can be collected, combined with Avios earned with other airlines like British Airways or Iberi, and redeemed for various perks such as flights, upgrades, car rentals, and hotel stays. Below we will delve into the details of AerClub and how the program works.

How to Earn Avios

As a member of the AerClub program, you can earn points when booking flights with Aer Lingus or its partner airlines. Members will earn 3 Avios for every Euro spent on Aer Lingus flights, excluding taxes and fees. However, if you are flying on partner airlines, the number of Avios you earn corresponds to the distance flown and fare class. Avios will not expire as long as there is activity in your account once very 36 months. Additionally, AerClub members earn tier credits on flights operated by Aer Lingus based on route and fare type. Tier credits count towards earning elite level status and unlock additional benefits.

Redeeming Avios for Reward Flights

Redeeming Avios for reward flights is done through avios.com where you can search for flights, hotels, and combine points from different Avios earning partners.

On average, for a one way off-peak flight, members can expect to spend 4,000 to 16,250 Avios per one way flights depending on route and class. Aer Lingus provides a document that breaks down the exact amount of Avios needed for rewards flights on various routes offered.

Tiers

Tier credits operate on a 12 month qualification period. After the 12th month has passed, your tier credits will reset; however, you keep whichever tier you’ve obtained until the end of the next qualification period.
